"THE PAST AND THE PRESENT"

The past is depicted by the St. Phillips Church Steeple as seen from the steeple of St. Michael's Church. The present is depicted by the twin bridges that cross the Wando and Cooper Rivers which the residents of the area say join as the flow under the bridges to form the Atlantic Ocean.

"RECEPTION AT THE GREAT HOUSE"

A late sunny afternoon and the guests have arrived and the reception has begun.  The hostess at the top of the steps prepares to descend to the lawn to greet her guests.  Under a canopy of magnolias and wisteria, the ladies are enjoying strolling arm in arm with their gentlemen friends while a little seclusion is sought by the young couple in the background.  A young girl hurries across the lawn, lifting her skirts, exposing her lacy petticoats and pantaloons as she rushes to meet her yet unseen beau.
