"HER
WEDDING DAY"
When she was just a little girl, she dreamed of
being a bride. Then someone special came into her
life and "being a Bride" took on a
deeper meaning. Now her wedding day is here. The
hopes, the dreams, and all those months of
planning have come together at last. As she
reflects upon this perfect day, the little flower
girl arranges her cathedral veil made of the
finest French muslin of the time. Her faithful
white cat, watching the special preparations from
his position on the slip chair, also knows that
this is a very special day.
"Little Victorian Facts 1864"
Bridal bouquets were not carried by
brides of this time, but were presented to her
after the ceremony. However, a tradition of the
time, was that of encircling the head or
headdress with wax orange blossoms and also
tucking them into folds and various places on the
wedding dress. A member of European royalty
remarked of his bride, that she looked like a
brush coming down the aisle.

Ribbons can be placed in almost any scene,
if you choose and are scaled to the size of the picture.

#57-VL-4 TEA TIME
Especially great hostess gift
|
"TEA
TIME"
"Tea Time" is somewhere around four o'
clock in the late afternoon. It is a time for
getting away from the activity of the day and
enjoying the peaceful relaxation of a cup of tea,
delightful pastries or dainty finger sandwiches.
After serving her guests who have retired to
another room, our Victorian hostess prepares a
cup of tea for her enjoyment as she joins her
guests.
"Little Victorian Facts 1875"
The clock we now know as the grandfather
clock was the first timepiece used as a home
decor accessory. It was then referred to as
"the Bongo Clock" because of its design
configuration.
Because homes were heated with many huge open
hearth fireplaces, women were always in danger of
the long trains on their dresses catching on
fire. This was the leading cause of accidental
death for women of this time. It was therefore
discovered that by weighing the dress and adding
an equal weight of a laundry product called
whiting to the starch, the garment would be
fireproof. |
